On-page/site optimization is the most important part of SEO or in other words, SEO begins with on-page/site optimization. On-page/site factors play a major role to enhance the ranks of any website in SERP's. But, many of us are not aware of the myths doing rounds in this field. Hence, in this post, we will look at the prevalent myths & facts about on-page/site optimization.

Website Title:
The Title of a website/webpage is a vital component of onsite optimization.

Myth: Many SEO specialists believe that stuffing keywords into the title would help fetch higher ranks for the website.
This SEO technique was effective until search engines started recognizing SEO spammers and spammed webpages/websites.
Fact: The title should be simple, crisp, user as well as search engine friendly. Describe the website/business in about 10-15 words considering the important keywords. It is recommended not to repeat any keyword more than once and use keyword phrases instead of singleton keywords.

URL Structure:
It leaves a better impression to have a domain name which matches with the theme of the website and contain its main keyword.

Myth: Repeated and stuffed keywords in the URL of each page will work.
Fact: The most important thing is to name each page pertaining to the keyword relevant to that page. Creating pages having keywords in URL will pay off better than dynamic URLs. Static URL's are often given preference over dynamic URL's.

Domain Age:
The age of any website is another major factor which helps it to gain authority and build its credibility in search engines.

Myth: A few webmasters believe that the older the website, the better are the chances of it to rank higher in search engines.
Fact: However, the fact is a 3 years old website is as good as a 4 months old one and without optimizing, the website will not rank high in SERP's. Also, domain age is useful to find duplicate content on the website. If two web pages have similar content, the search engine would consider the page with older domain age as the first publisher.

Hence, in order to make the website rank high in search engines follow the facts and focus on optimizing the website as per the search engines guidelines. Also, keep a track of the above-listed points as these might help you achieve your goal.
